I have relatively good skin, I don’t break out often or have much texture or discoloration. When I do have acne, they turn into red spots and scabs. As you can guess, these are extremely difficult to cover because there is so much redness as well as texture. Certain concealers and foundations can accentuate the dryness and make it SUPER obvious that I’m trying to cover acne. In fact, half the time it just makes them look worse, which is exactly the opposite of what I want. So today I want to show you guys how I cover bad acne!
Someone at Sephora recommended using the Anastasia Beverly Hills pro pencil underneath foundation to cancel out the redness. I like this method, but I didn’t want to bother buying another product, just to add another step into my routine that I may or may not stick with. Plus, some products are just far to expensive for something that might not work. If you couldn’t tell, I’m extremely skeptical of the products Sephora employees show you because they look great in Sephora, but not so much when you leave the store. For those reasons, I decided to play around with some products I already had on hand in order to find something that does the same thing.
I found that I could use my NYX push up brow pencil to get the same effect. First, I prep my skin like I do every day, with my moisturizer and primer. Then, I used the highlight side on each of my blemishes. This really does help cancel out the redness. I apply my foundation over it in a stippling motion, which helps create more of a full coverage. To finish up, I use a setting spray instead of powder. I don’t want to put anything else on my skin that could emphasis the dryness.
